The secret to a great cheesesteak is a super soft french bread roll. Add onion, green pepper or hot sauce to compliment your perfect cheesesteak!
Recipe Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef tri tip steak
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 large green pepper, sliced
- 8 ounces sliced fresh mushrooms
- 12 slices white American cheese
- 6 French or Italian sandwich rolls, split
Recipe Instructions
- In the slow cooker, combine beef, beef stock, vinegar and Worchestershire. Cook on LOW for 4-4 hours or until beef is pink in the middle. Take out beef from broth and set broth aside.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cook mushrooms in a large skillet over medium heat. Once mushrooms are softened, add onion and green pepper and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Thinly slice beef and add to vegetable mixture soft rolls. Add 2 slices of American cheese to each roll and wrap in foil.
- Lay sandwiches on rack in preheated oven and cook for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Serve with reserved broth as an Au Jus.
