This recipe is easy to prepare and creates a robust, hearty sauce that you just can’t get out of a jar. Your family will appreciate its homemade goodness and you’ll appreciate how simple it is to prepare. I like to cook my ground meat and onion the night before to make morning prep time even simplier
Ingredients
  • 1 Lb. ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 chopped medium onion
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) undrained diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 0z) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp. light brown sugar
  • 4 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1½ tsp. dried basil
  • 1½ tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme

Instructions
  1. Cook meat and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.
  2. Drain the grease
  3. Place mixture in a 3 to 4 quart slow cooker.
  4. Mix in remaining ingredients.
  5. Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 8 hours.
  6. Serve over hot, cooked spaghetti
